Barney McGale
Barney McGale began his career in aviation in 1951 with the Royal Canadian Air Force. During this 22 year period, he was both an instructor and flew a variety of fighters. His last posting was with 412 VIP Squadron flying the Falcon 20.
Upon leaving the RCAF with the rank of Captain, Mr. McGale flew professionally with the Irving Oil Transport Flight Department for 25 years. For the last ten years he has held the position of Flight Department Manager.
As Flight Department Manager, Mr. McGale, in conjunction with regular flying duties, was responsible for 11 pilots and 6 engineers. With two hangars, including a new state-of-the-art facility completed in 1996, the department had six corporate aircraft including a Falcon 50, Hawker-Siddeley 125, Citation SII, Turbo Commander and a Caravan, plus several spray planes and an AStar helicopter.
During his tenure with Irving Oil Transport, Mr. McGale was responsible for the managing of the flight department including the hiring and scheduling of all personnel, the research and representation of Irving Oil Transport Department in the purchase and integration of new aircraft into the department.
Currently, Mr. McGale resides in rural Ottawa and is the Canadian Sales Representative for Vance & Engles Aircraft Brokers.
